So you are thinking about getting out of the city and discovering life in the countryside?
Maybe you are not roumanian and are interested in discovering Romania away from the tourist areas.
Maybe „Născut din Țărână”, my project, is the choice for You. „Născut din Țărână”, translated in english „From Earth’s womb” is a personal project named after the fact that i am building an earthbag house out the the earth the house is build into. I building this house out of local materials, as much as possible, and the goal is to be able in the near future to sustain myself with the fruits of my labers: eco gardening, wild fruits, wild plants, wild flowers and mushrooms, the energy from the solar panels and the water from the spring.
I am learning, baby steps, and i invite you to join me in my adventures.
What do i intend to do this year?
Finish building the house: building the roof, plastering the interior, floors, heating and water system, insulation.
Bringing a water pipe from the spring and building a holding tank .
Rebuild the summer kitchen that was destroyed in a fire.
Take care of the garden.
Take care of my horse and building for him a winter shelter.
What can you do?
Be good at hungarian or french. I live in a hungarian area and struggle to learn the language. I will really love to recall how to speak a language that i love but rarely have the opportunity to speak.
Be good with horses. Since i am building full time since last year my horse was neglected and i can’t use him for horseback riding or for pulling a waggon.
Be good with eco gardening, and permaculture. I love to learn so i will know what i am doing.
Be good or willing to help my mother with cooking. If we are just a few is not that big of a deal but if we will be many she will need help with shopping, cleaning the vegetables, washing and with some ideas.
Be willing to learn and help in building and finishing an earthbag house. I must move in by the end of this year since i am camping on my land.
Be willing to do whatever is necessary no matter how skilled you are.
What do i ask of you?
To be curious toward romanian culture, the way i am trying to live and sustain myself.
To be willing to share your experiences.
To be willing to learn new skills.
To work for 20-25 hours a week, either a few hours a day for 5 days/week or for 3 full days/week.
To stay for at least one week.
What do you get?
You will get a tent and a sleeping mat. You will need your own sleeping bag for hygienic reasons.
You will get a place at the table and eat what we eat, mostly vegetarian food, milk, chess and eggs.
We have for the moment outside compost toilets, showers and sinks and fresh water from the spring.
At the end of the week we will visit the city and tourist areas, or hike in the forest.
If you will like to join me use the contact form on the contact page.
